This one’s a throwback, but it’s definitely blog worthy! Sometime in my earlier years of college, my partners in crime (sister, Julia and sister from another mister, Jen) and I decided we were long overdue for a fun filled weekend of margaritas and fresh fish tacos, so we did what seemed logical and booked a trip to Cabo San Lucas. One short flight later and we were checking into the hotel. We used VRBO to book our stay ~ one of my favorite go to websites when traveling. We checked into the luxurious Villa La Estancia and were thrilled with our oversized balcony and beautiful views of the ocean and the famous Arch.
We were in paradise! We threw on our swimsuits and made it to the pool just in time for happy hour, Dos Por Uno (our favorite 3 words that weekend). A liquor store and small market are conveniently located at the resort and since our suite had a full kitchen, we bought the necessary items to make our own margaritas and cheesy quesadillas. The resort is made up of private condos that are either managed by the owner or by the rental management program. We were very happy with the resort and all of its wonderful amenities from extra large infinity pools, to the convenient swim up bars to the delicious onsite restaurants (must order Fish of the Day at least one!)
The hotel is located just shy of a mile from downtown Los Cabos ~ where you can find a number of fun activities from walking through the marina to dining at one of the upscale trendy restaurants or visiting one of the many famous bars. We dined at Nick-San which offers an incredible variety of fresh sushi. Whenever an Omakase option is available, I take it! Omakase is a meal that consists of dishes selected by the chef. This allows you to try fish you wouldn’t normally order. After finishing up our sake, we decided to pay a visit to the famous El Squid Roe! Needless to say, we had a wild night, including drinks glowing with curaçao and a tequila bottle with a picture of our faces on the label (best souvenir). It was a wild start to a fun filled weekend. We also made pit stops during our Mexican holiday at the Cabo Wabo Cantina & Señor Frogs ~ they always have fun music, DJ’s and dancing is always encouraged.
No trip to Cabo is complete without stopping by the Mango Deck located near the marina and having a shot of tequila from the famous “Shot Guy”. We shared some “Dos Por Uno” piña coladas and passed out by the pool while we worked on our tans. It was a weekend full of fun memories (a few blurred ones) but an amazing time well spent with best friends.
